Jo A. Witter, M.D. and James D. Witter, Jr., PA-C provide services at Witter Family Medicine. Jo is a native of the area growing up near Bellwood, NE and graduated from Aquinas High School. She received her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1991 and completed her residency in Family Medicine in Lincoln, NE. She is board certified by the America Board of Family Medicine. She also holds current certification in Advanced Life Support for Cardiac
Pediatric, Neonatal, Trauma and Obstetric Care. Jim Witter is originally from North Platte, NE and received his master’s degree as a Physician Assistant from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1998. He is currently certified by the National Assoc. of Physician’s Assistants and holds current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Advanced Life Support.

Cindy Heavican, APRN-NP, joined Witter Family Medicine in June of 2009.  Cindy began her career as a licensed practical nurse in 1994.  She completed her Associate Degree in nursing in 1996 and in April of 2009, she graduated from UNMC with a Master’s of Science Degree.  For the past eight years, Cindy has had the privilege of caring for residents and families from David City and surrounding communities by working at David’s Place.  While she’s working at Witter Family Medicine, she works collaboratively with a physician while caring for patients in all stages of life.   Cindy can evaluate and diagnose patients, order and interpret tests, prescribe medication and reach decisions with patients regarding their health care plan.  Cindy and her husband reside in Columbus and have two daughters, Tayla  and Cailey. In her spare time she enjoys scrapbooking, travel and golf.
